Private hospitals to face action if neglect to provide services under Ayushman Bharat Yojana

Bhubaneswar: Confusions and chaos among patients and private hospitals regarding implementation of Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Odisha continues due to which the beneficiaries are unable to get services of the health scheme. Taking a serious note of this, Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling convened a meeting to find out ways and means to solve the problems.

Mahaling chaired a meeting with the representatives of the private hospitals today during which the representatives raised concerns about software issues, package prices, and operational problems. Dr. Mahaling assured that the government is working to address these issues, including increasing package prices.

While speaking to the media persons, the Minister said that the demand of the representatives of the private hospitals to increase their packages will also be considered and suggestions received are being considered from all angles.

“Since it is a Pan India card, there is a problem with the network and OTP, discussions are underway to solve the problem. However, the private hospitals will face stringent action if neglect to provide health services to the people,” warned Mahaling.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties both Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress slammed the State government over the issue. BJD alleged that after the implementation of Ayushman Bharat, patients are getting worried. BJD leader Pramila Mallik said that the government should take steps now and solve the problem at the earliest possible time to help the people to get the free treatment.

Likewise, Congress MLA Ashok Das said that there are many problems with the Ayushman Bharat card. People are not getting the benefit even though they have the card. When will the government will solve the problems, question the Congress legislator.
