Firingia, : A road accident occurred near Kamtna, Gochhapada police station, Firingia block, Kandhamal district late on Tuesday night. One biker died and another was seriously injured when two bikes collided head-on. Two others were slightly injured. The deceased has been identified as Jitan Digal (21), son of Dhananjay Digal of Batabahali village, Balandapada, Gochhapada police station. The seriously injured person has been identified as Yogeswar Kahanra of Baghpadar village under Balandapada panchayat and has been shifted to Berhampur Medical College from Phulbani.
According to information, Jitan Digal and another youth were returning to their village from Krandibali village on a bike late on Tuesday night. At this time, a head-on collision occurred with another bike coming from the opposite direction near Kamtana village on the main road from Gochhapada to Balandapada. As a result, four youths on two bikes were seriously injured. Seeing this, the locals first brought everyone to the Gochhapada Primary Health Center in an ambulance. Later, he was shifted to the Phulbani District Head Hospital. Jitan Digal died while undergoing treatment at the Phulbani Medical Center. However, after receiving information about the incident, the Gochhapada police reached the medical center and registered a case. Along with this, the body has been seized and sent for post-mortem and further investigation is underway, said Police Station Officer Chiranjeev Behera.
