Sambalpur, : Tension ran high at Kacheri Chhakk in Sambalpur town when protesting lawyers clashed with police, on Monday.
Various social organisations and the public along with the lawyers have launched a Satyagraha demanding establishment of a High court bench in Sambalpur.
The agitators broke the barricades which aggravated the situation further that led to the clash between lawyers and police. The lawyers said that they will not back down from their demand even if their licenses are suspended or they are arrested.
Worth mentioning, the Supreme Court has directed the Bar Council of India to suspend the licenses of agitating lawyers in several districts of Odisha. The bench, headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, also directed arrangements by police to prevent lawyers from obstructing the working of the court.
