Pattamundai: An unfortunate incident has occurred in Damdara Patana village under Alapua Panchayat, which has been surrounded by floodwaters for the past week. As the floodwater was receding, a woman who had gone to the river early in the morning to bathe was dragged away by a crocodile. The woman has been identified as Suchitra Das, aged 46.

Her slippers, torch, mobile phone, and soap were found lying on the riverbank. Upon receiving the information, fire service personnel from Pattamundai have been searching the river, but no trace of her has been found so far.

In the flood-affected areas of Pattamundai, panic has spread due to crocodiles and wild boars, and incidents of loss of human life are occurring. However, no awareness programs are being conducted by the Forest Department.

During the flood situation, people had complained to Kendrapara District Collector Raghuram Iyer about the fear caused by crocodiles and wild boars. He had assured that awareness programs would be carried out by the Forest Department.
