German automaker Volkswagen has announced that it will introduce the Tiguan facelift in India this December. Volkswagen India took to its official Twitter account and announced that the New Tiguan will be launched on December 7, 2021. ‘Skip boring with the exciting New Tiguan,’ the company said in its tweet.
This new Tiguan will be a premium mid-size SUV and will be facelift of the existing one in India. The introduction of the new Tiguan SUV in India comes as Volkswagen’s strategy to introduce four new SUVs in India.
The biggest upgrade of the Volkswagen Tiguan against its predecessor is the removal of the diesel powertrain. The new Tiguan will be offered in only Petrol engine and will inherit the engine of the Tiguan AllSpace. Under the hood the Tiguan will be powered by a 2.0L, 4-Cyllinder TSI turbocharged petrol engine that churns out maximum power of 190bhp and peak toque of 320Nm. The transmission of the SUV is handled by a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. An All Wheel Drive system aids the SUV in tackling day to day driving as well as some off roading.
However, in terms of interiors of the SUV there will not be any changes. The new 2021 Tiguan will have virtual cockpit, a flat bottom steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, etc. The design of the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan gets a retouch in comparison to it outgoing model. The front grille of the SUV has touches of chrome. It features LED Matrix headlamps along with daytime running lights and triangular fog lamps. The front design of the car appears to be sharp and stylish. A set of alloy wheels gives a sporty design to the vehicle. The rear of the vehicle has the presence of LED tail lamps, which add to the design of the SUV.
The New Tiguan will give a proper competition to some of the premium mid-size SUVs in India. SUVs like Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 AirCross are expected to be the rivals of the new Tiguan. In terms of pricing the all new Volkswagen Tiguan is expected to cost somewhere between Rs 27 lakh to Rs 32 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
