New Delhi, : Two prisoners and six staff of the high-security Tihar Jail in the national capital have tested positive for Covid-19, informed Director General (Prisons) Sandeeep Goyal on Tuesday.
None of the infected people are critical, he added.
The jail has three complexes, one at Tihar which is one of the largest prison complexes in the world comprising nine central prisons.
The second is Central Prison at Rohini Prison Complex and third one is Mandoli Prison Complex having six Central Jails.
No positive cases have been reported in the Rohini and Mandoli jails so far, informed Goyal.
“Covid-19 positive cases in Delhi Prisons have come after a gap of about five months. The last positive case was detected in July 2021,” he added.
