Lahunipada/Banaigarh: Rudra Charan Majhi, a resident of Junyani village under Lahunipada block of Sundargarh district, has successfully obtained his Ph.D. (Doctorate Degree) from South Bihar Central University, Gaya. Shri Majhi has successfully qualified for his Doctorate Degree in an open Ph.D. oral examination held on 11 June 2025. The success of this researcher has proven to be a milestone as a result of years of hard work and dedication.
Shri Rudra Majhi’s primary education started from Junyani Primary School. He studied at Gudiali Upper Primary School in Rajamunda till class 6 and 7. For this, he used to walk 8 km every day. After that, he completed his high school at Darji Ban Vidyalaya. During his high school studies, he used to walk 15 km. After that, he studied at Bonai College. During this time, he successfully handled the responsibilities of students’ union president, secretary, and vice-president three times. His struggle for a doctorate degree from a poor and ordinary family is also an inspiration for everyone else.
Professor Suresh Chandra, the guide and research director for his doctorate degree, played a key role. Researcher Rudra Majhi said, “Without the guidance of Professor Suresh Chandra, this journey would have been very difficult. The support of my teachers, friends, well-wishers, and family has also contributed immensely to this success.”
The oral examination was attended by senior officers of the university, Dr. Shantigopal Pen (Examination Controller), Shri Kumar Kaushal (Deputy Registrar) and other eminent officers who reviewed the research work in depth. Professor Munna Tiwari, Head of Department (Hindi), Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, member of the Tripartite Evaluation Committee, asked various questions, appreciated the research and declared it publishable. The presence of members of various departments, researchers and students in the examination further boosted the morale of the researcher. Expressing gratitude to everyone, the researcher said, “Now is the time to move towards new dreams and goals.”
This research will prove to be significant for the entire human society with the hope of upliftment of the tribal community. Shri Rudra Majhi expressed the hope that it will act as a guide for the government’s policy making, land reforms, forest protection laws.
