Nayagarh, : Nayagarh police arrested as many as six accused on the charges of tying a minor girl to an electric pole in Nayagarh on Friday.
The incident came to the fore when the Ranpur police rescued the victim from the spot.
The victim has been identified as a minor girl belonging to the SC community whereas the accused are Dilip Kumar Tatala, Rabi Parida, Rina Parida, Manju Matta, and Chhai Behera.
According to a complaint lodged with the Ranapur police, the minor girl was allegedly raped by a youth. Following this, the parents presented the issue before the village committee, but in vain.
As a result, they moved the police station on the affairs. Aggrieved over it, the accused and 5 others assaulted the minor girl and his parents, barging into their house. Later, the minor was tied on the street with an electric poll.
A case under Sections 376,381,294,323, 506, and 34 IPS has been registered in this connection, said police.
