Chhendipada : In a tragic incident, a passenger bus has collided head-on with a truck near Jindal on State Highway 63 in Chhendipada of Angul district. As many as five passengers have sustained critical injuries.
Reportedly, the passenger bus, named as Shiv Shanakar, was en-route to Bhubaneswar from Deogarh. The bus was travelling at a high speed due to which it lost its balance over the wheels and collided with a coal laden truck on which was parked on the roadside.
As a result, five passengers have sustained critical injuries whereas several others have narrowly escaped from injuries due to the mishap. The locals immediately reported to the local police regarding the accident. It has also been learnt that the helper of the passenger bus was found to have broken his leg.
On getting the information, the local police arrived at the spot along with 108 emergency ambulance. All the critically injured passengers were rushed to the District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) in Angul for immediate medical assistance.
Meanwhile an injured passenger have said that the driver had fell asleep while driving due to which the accident occurred. He added that there were about 50 passengers in the bus.
