Puri : One person was detained in connection with the loot of ballot boxes from booth-9 in Kashijharia village in Brahmagiri locality in Puri district, Puri SP informed.
Sources said, unidentified miscreants allegedly looted the ballot box from a booth at Kashijharia village of Chapamanik panchayat under Brahmagiri block here during the first phase of panchayat polls in the state yesterday.
He snatched away the ballot box, fled the spot, and threw it outside the boundary wall. His associates who were waiting there took the ballot box and ran towards the nearby forest.
Efforts were on by cops to nab other wrongdoers.
