Bhubaneswar, : The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) is plying one Mo Bus per 10,000 population in the capital city of Odisha when the ministry of housing and urban affairs recommends to ensure 60 city buses per one lakh population in cities.
As per the ministry’s recommendation, Bhubaneswar needs over 700 city buses for its population of over 12 lakh.
Similarly, with around eight lakh population, Cuttack city needs around 500 buses.
However, only 265 Mo Buses are plying between Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Puri, Konark, Khordha, Jatani and Nimapada having a population of over 25 lakh in total.
Commuters have to wait for around 30-45 minutes for Mo Bus service in many routes in the twin city.
Besides, no specific information is being provided at Mo Bus stops regarding timing of buses for different routes in for new commuters in the twin city.
Apart from this, only 23 Mo Buses are plying in Rourkela city having a population over seven lakh and Berhampur city has 32 buses for around four lakh population.
