Mandatory RT-PCR test for all passengers landing at Bhubaneswar Airport from Jan 7

Bhubaneswar : In view of the sudden increase in COVID-19 positive cases in Odisha as well as in the country, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a guideline for Covid guidelines for Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar.

According to BMC all the passengers deboarding at Bhubaneswar except in transit shall have to undergo RT-PCR Test at the testing facility provided by the BMC.

The air travellers who have already been fully vaccinated or in possession of RT-PCR negative reports shall also have to be tested at BPIA in the testing facility.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to install RT-PCR testing facility at BPIA forthwith.

The travellers whose destination is Bhubaneswar shall have to isolate themselves at home till the result is communicated to him by BMC. The usual protocol for positive cases will be followed in case positive cases are found from among the travellers.

The Director of BPIA to facilitate BMC in installing the testing facility and ensure adherence of above guideline strictly.

The restriction will come into effect from January 7, 2022 until further order.

It is to be noted here that 1897 Covid-19 positive cases including 258 in the 0-18 years age group were detected in Odisha in the last 24 hours.

Likewise, a 45-years-old woman has succumbed to the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in the Balangir district today, informed Balangir Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Snehalata Sahu. This is the first Omicron death in Odisha. Currently, there are 61 Omicron cases in the State.
