Bangladesh legendry cricketer and star all-rounder of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Shakib-Al-Hasan has pulled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). It is certainly a huge setback for the franchise.
As per reports, the veteran cricketer opted out of IPL 2023 due to his international commitments for Bangladesh and personal reasons. Bangladesh will lock horns with Ireland in a one-off Test match starting from April 4. They will also play an ODI series against the Irish side.
The all-rounder has already informed the franchise about his decision. KKR are now looking for a suitable replacement. However, it will not be easy because of the quality and experience Shakib brings to the table.
KKR had bought the Bangladeshi star for Rs 1.5 crore. Shakib Al Hasan has scored 793 runs and picked up 63 wickets in his IPL career so far. He has represented KKR and SRH in the cash-rich league.
Notably, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer has opted out of the IPL due to an injury. Though it is expected that Iyer will return to the team after the first half of the tournament, it is still uncertain. In Iyer’s absence, prolific batter Nitish Rana is leading the side.
