Keonjhar, : In a gory incident, a couple was brutally murdered on the suspicion of practicing sorcery in the Harichandanpur area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district late last night.
The deceased persons have been identified as Bahada Murmu and his wife Dhani Murmu.
As per reports, the incident took place in Jhumkipatia village under Harichandanpur police limits when the couple was asleep. Reportedly, a miscreant entered into their house and brutally murdered them by crushing their face with an axe before fleeing the spot.
On getting the information, police arrived at the spot and recovered the bodies. Subsequently, the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
Though the exact motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that the couple might have been murdered over suspicion of practicing sorcery.
A manhunt has been launched to nab the culprit involved in the murder and an investigation into the matter is underway, said the police.
