Home Guard job aspirant dies in Chhatrapur during fitness test

Ganjam: Yet another job aspirant died during a fitness test in Chhatrapur of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Shibram Pradhan of Tulasipalli under Tarasingh police limits.

Shibram Pradhan was reportedly taking part the fitness test for the recruitment of Home Guards at Chhatrapur. However, he fell sick during a sprint segment of the fitness test.

Pradhan was immediately taken to the Chhatrapur Sub-Divisional Hospital in a critical condition. Later he was shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur as his condition deteriorated. However, he died while undergoing treatment despite all efforts by the doctors.

Following the job aspirant’s death, Ganjam police suspended the recruitment process and issued a notification stating that a fresh date for the fitness test would be announced in due course of time.

This is the second such sad and shocking incident in which a job aspirant died today. Earlier in the day, a Nepali youth named Govind Kumar died in Jharsuguda while practicing for physical test in view of the upcoming OSAP (Odisha Special Armed Police) Gurkha Sepoy recruitment 2025.  The recruitment for the Gurkha Sepoys was slated to be held on September 17 to fill up a total of 135 vacancies in Odisha Special Armed Police 2nd Battalion, Jharsuguda.
