Balasore, : A minor girl in Balasore has written a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appealing to support her studies and treat her mother who is living with a mental disorder.
The girl, who has narrated her acute penury, pains, and sufferings to the CM, is Subhadra Panda, the foster daughter of Srinivasa Panda, a native of Patanaraipur village under the Remuna block in Balasore district.

Subhadra was adopted by Shrinivasa and his wife Annapurna while she was just 21 days old, though she was born to a lower caste family. However, the foster mother and daughter suffered after Shrinibasa’s untimely demise. Subsequently, the mother lost her mental balance with the death of the bread earner. However, Subhadra, who is now in Class-X, has been managing the family with the Rs 500 widow pension her mother was getting. The pension money is, however, too meager to manage the household and study expenses. Annapurna’s mental condition is worsening gradually whereas the lonely girl is living a scary life with her mother. She turns more violent and vandalizes goods due to her mental disease.
“I have nobody in the world to help. Still, I want to go ahead with my studies. Please help me live and fulfill my dream’, wrote the poor girl to the Chief Minister.
The tearful prayer of the minor girl has been the talk of the town after her plight went viral on social media.
