Sambalpur, : A woman was killed by a wild elephant in Sambalpur district on Thursday.
The incident took place at Luburi village under the Nakitideul police limits.
The deceased has been identified as Mathuri Dehury.
Sources said that Mathuri was going to her farmland near the village forest when the elephant trampled her to death.
Being alerted, locals rushed to the spot and rescued her in critical condition. She was immediately rushed to the hospital. However, she was declared dead by the attending doctors.
