Dwarka : Shankaracharya of Dwarkapeeth, Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati passed away today in Madhya Pradesh’s Narsinghpur. He was 99.
As per reports, the Hindu religious leader breathed his last at Shridham Jhoteshwar Ashram District in Narsinghpur at around 3:30 p.m.
Born in 1924 in a Brahmin family in Dighori village near Jabalpur in the Seoni district, Jagatguru Swaroopanand Ji Saraswati left his home at the age of nine and started the journey of religion to understand and uplift Hinduism.
He learned Vedas and scriptures from Swami Karpatri Maharaj after reaching Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
Also, he had gone to jail in the freedom struggle, during which he was known as a revolutionary sadhu. He also contributed to the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
