Puri : The Gynaecologist of Puri, Dr Sukant Jena, has been arrested on Thursday by Odisha Vigilance Team on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe.
The tainted doctor Sukant Kumar Jena is a Gynaecologist in Charichak Medical Community Health Centre (CHC) in Puri.
Reportedly, he was apprehended by the vigilance sleuths while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3000/- after an operation and Rs 5000/- pre-operation from a Complainant for conducting the cesarean operation of his cousin. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Dr Jena and seized.
A huge amount of Rs. 1 crore and 12 lakh cash was recovered during the house search. It is being said that this is the biggest cash recovery in the State during a Vigilance raid.
