Bhubaneswar, : Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim has casted vote in favour of NDA’s presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu. Earlier, the state Congress had decided to vote for opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha.
Moquim said that he voted as per his conscience. “She is the proud daughter of Odisha and there was no whip from the party. So I voted for the pride of Odisha,” said Moquim.
Voting for the presidential polls started on Monday. The MPs and MLAs across the country will cast their votes till 5 pm today. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other MLAs cast their votes at the state assembly premises in Bhubaneswar.
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has already declared to support Murmu, the daughter of the soil. On the other hand, the state Congress has decided to follow the direction of the high command and support Yashwant Sinha.
