Athmallik, : A day after the body of a tusker was found in Dhenkanal district, another pachyderm succumbed to suspected gunshot wound in Odisha’s Angul district on Saturday.
According to sources, the locals had spotted the elephant in the morning under Athmallik forest division in Angul district and informed the forest officials.
A team from the Athmallik forest division went to the spot. On checking the elephant, they found a gunshot wound in his head. The doctors suspected that the infection might have spread to other parts of the elephant’s body and caused its death.
