Gajapati, : Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested a Junior Engineer (JE) of Kashinagar NAC in Gajapati district demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a complainant.
The accused JE has been identified as Narendra Kumar Sahu.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the demand of bribe, the Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and apprehended Sahu red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe Rs 30,000 from a contractor in order to pass bill for payment towards construction work executed by him.
The entire bribe amount has been recovered from the possession of Sahu and seized.
Following the arrest, the officials launched simultaneous searches at three places associated with Sahu from Disproportionate Asset (DA) angle. The searches are currently underway.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, said an official.
