Khordha, : Chilika MLA Prashant Jagdev, who was arrested yesterday, has been sent to Banpur sub-jail after the Banpur Judicial Magistrate of First Class (JMFC) court rejected his bail plea.
Jagdev was arrested by the Banpur Police on Tuesday after he recovered from his injuries at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and was produced before the Bhubaneswar SDJM Court.
The court granted the police a transit remand for the legislator following which he was taken to Banapur in an ambulance amid watertight security. He was later produced before the Banapur JMFC Court late in the evening.
Notably, Jagdev, who was allegedly in an inebriated state, rammed his car into a crowd near the Banpur block office on March 12 injuring over a dozen people, including police personnel.
