Cuttack : Excise officials in Odisha’s Cuttack City this afternoon seized heroin worth over Rs 51 Lakh and arrested two drug peddlers while transporting the contraband.
The excise officials were conducting a patrolling in Manguli area of Cuttack City this afternoon. During the inspection, the officials recovered heroin of 223 grams from an individual and 292 grams of heroine from another person.
The two drug peddlers arrested today have been identified as Sipun Nayak of Dhenkanal district and Dibesh Nayak of Angul district. Both of them were forwarded to the court after their arrest.
Sources said that the arrested persons were reportedly smuggling the drug to Angul from Balasore.
In a similar incident, the Special Task Force (STF), Bhubaneswar, also arrested a man with 263 gram of brown sugar by conducting a raid in the Air Field Police Station area of the State Capital City today. The drug peddler has been identified as Jyotikrishna Samantray of Bomikhal village under Laxmisagar police station limits of Khurda district.
