SC to Hear Ranveer Allahbadia’s Passport Plea on April 28, Probe Deemed Complete

New Delhi  : Supreme Court on Monday noted that the investigation against podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia—linked to multiple FIRs over allegedly distasteful remarks made during a YouTube show—is complete. The court scheduled a hearing on April 28 to decide his plea for the return of his passport.

A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and N. Kotiswar Singh granted interim protection from arrest earlier this year and had directed Allahbadia to submit his passport to the Thane Cyber Police.

During the latest hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Assam and Maharashtra police, confirmed that while the Mumbai probe was done (with the chargesheet pending), only a co-accused’s statement was awaited in the Guwahati case.

The bench reaffirmed that the investigation into Allahbadia himself had concluded.

Back in March, the top court had allowed Allahbadia to resume “The Ranveer Show”, with the condition that he maintains morality and decency, ensuring content suitable for all age groups.
