Puri : The Gadisagada Police in Puri have arrested eight persons for allegedly attacking four journalists while they were covering panchayat polls in Badhala panchayat under Kanasa block in Odisha’s Puri district on Wednesday.
The accused have been identified as Satyapriya Moharana, Bijay Swain, Subas Majhi, Nikunja Swain, Uttam Bhujabal, Ajay Barisal, Bidyadhar Swain and Brajabandhu Swain. Police have also seized one mobile phone, 2 boom mics, and one live telecast device from their possession.
According to reports, the incident took place at around 11 am on Wednesday when some people tried to rig a booth.
As the four journalists started covering the matter, the wrongdoers attacked them without any altercation. They also damaged the mobile phones, cameras, and live-telecast equipment of the journalists.
