Bhubaneswar, : An elderly woman was allegedly killed over sorcery suspicion in Cuttack on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Meena Chatar of Chandanpur village under Tangi police station area of Cuttack district. The accused identified as Begun Purti hacked Meena to death suspecting her of practicing witchcraft.
According to the information, family members of Begun have been suffering from an unknown disease. Suspecting Meena practicing sorcery on them, Purti attacked her with a sharp weapon and fled from the spot.
Deceased’s son has filed a written complaint at Tangi police station accusing his neighbour Begun Purti of killing his mother.
Later, Tangi police, along with a forensic team reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
