Angul: The three-day crocodile census has commenced in Satkosia sanctuary in Odisha’s Angul district starting Friday. As per official sources, as many as 14 teams with 56 personnel from Satkosia and Nayagarh Wildlife Divisions will be carrying the enumeration drive with the help of binoculars, mobile applications and boats. The counting starts from 10 am t0 5 pm and is being carried out from Marada to Sheetapani, from Sheetapani to Harabhanga and then towards Aida in the Mahanadi where crocodiles of various species are enumerated. Their pug marks too are included as part of the counting.
In Kusanga range, three teams comprising eight personnel – Asharaj Khan, forester Brajraj Biswal, Antaryaami Jaani, Biswapriya Dei, Sugyan Behera, Govind Mahakud, Kishore Mallik and Akhaya Sahu – will be part of the exercise. For supervision, Nayagarh forest officials inclduing ACF Satabdhi Mishra and range officer Laxminarayan Panda will be present.
