Baripada: In a shocking incident, gold jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh stolen from jewellery owner while he was returning to his home. The gold loot happened near the Sarali river poll near Sunagadia under Baripada town police limits in Mayurbhanj district. The shop is situated near the Krushna Chandra square.
According to information, the jewellery shop owner closed his shop as usual and was returning to his home when the looters attacked him. The shop owner Sanjib Kumar Kamila recalled that four miscreants came in two bikes and looted the gold jewellery bag.
He was reportedly carrying some gold jewellery in a bag which the looters stole away after attacking him with sharp weapons. They also hit him after he resisted from giving the bag. He is currently hospitalised. The shop owner lodged a complaint in the police station.
Police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
