Bhubaneswar, : Industrialist Mahimananda Mishra (popularly known as Mahima Mishra) appeared before the Central Investigation Agency (CBI) in its Bhubaneswar office on Friday a day after the raids at his office and residence.
According to information, CBI has arrested four persons including the chief mechanical engineer of Paradeep Port Authority Saroj Das, and contractor Sumant Rout, Port operation manager Sankhasubha Mitra in this connection today. The CBI team from Delhi had interrogated Das and Rout during the raid on Thursday.
Searches were conducted at the Odisha Stevedores Limited (OSL) office in Cuttack and at the office of the Paradip Port Trust. In addition, the OSL office at Link Road, Cuttack has been raided. Similarly, Mishra’s residence in Odia Bazar was also raided.
Though the reason for the raid is yet to be ascertained, reports suggest that it could be related to some alleged irregularities in Paradip Port Trust.
Sources further said CBI sleuths quizzed Chief Mechanical Engineer of Paradip Port Saroj Kumar Das and a contractor Sumant Rout at The 100 Million (guest house of the port) in connection with a bribery case. The senior official had allegedly accepted the bribe from the contractor. While Rs 80 lakh was seized from the office of the engineer, another Rs 50 lakh was seized from the contractor.
