Man attempts to kill wife, Tries to bury her alive in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: In a shocking incident, a man has allegedly beat his 23-year-old wife and later tried to kill her by burying her alive in a pit in the backyard of their house. The incident took place at Sitalabasa village under Kamakhyanagar police limits in the Dhenkanal district.

The alleged accused husband has been identified as Ranjan Sahu of the village.

Reportedly, Ranjan married the 23-year-old Sukanti, daughter of Krishna Sahu of Sitalabasa village, almost two years ago. The couple had arguments over the dowry issue after their marriage. However, their families had settled the matter among themselves.

Later, the couple had heated arguments over the same issue following which Ranjan beat Sukanti in an enraged state of mind and tried to bury her in the pit in the backyard of their house in an attempt to kill her.

Fortunately, Sukanti’s family was informed about the incident and they arrived at the spot. They rescued Sukanti from the pit in a critical condition and rushed her to Kamakhyanagar Hospital and later shifted her to the Dhenkanal District Headquarter Hospital (DHH). She has sustained serious injuries in her head and chest.

On getting the information, Kamakhyanagar police rushed to the medical and examined Sukanti’s condition. The cops have initiated a probe into the matter.
