WhatsApp planning to add two-step verification for desktop users soon

Instant-messaging app, WhatsApp is planning to introduce two-step verification for the desktop users in a major upcoming update. According to report, the Meta-owned app is developing the security feature in an order to protect users account from unauthorized login via desktop.

This will provide more control to user over account login. WhatsApp users can either enable or disable this upcoming feature as per their need.

The upcoming feature will provide more security for the desktop or web WhatsApp user.

The feature is currently under development.

Let us tell you that the two-step verification feature is currently available only for smartphone users. Currently, the app users to provide an auto generated six digit code when an they try to login into WhatsApp via a new smartphone. The six digit code is sent to users registered mobile number with the app.

If a users login to desktop app for WhatsApp, they don’t need to any PIN. They just have to open the web format of WhatsApp then log in by scanning the QR code. It will sync all chat, images, videos to the browser.

As per a report of WABetaInfo, a PIN is needed to authenticate while logging in to desktop app to enhance and authorize the access into desktop WhatsApp chat.

The WhatsApp feature tracker said that, “WhatsApp wants to make it easier to manage two-step verification everywhere, so they are working on introducing the feature on the web/desktop client in a future update.”

As per report, the two-step verification feature can easily enable or disable on the web/desktop client. This feature will come in handy when you lose your phone and you do not remember your PIN.

“You can restore it by requesting a reset link, but if you are temporarily unable to log into your mail account,” adds WABetaInfo.

This feature is currently not available for users but WhatsApp may roll it in a future update when the feature is ready to release.
