Hero MotoCorp set to enter the electric scooter market in India by March 2022

India’s leading two- wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has announced that it will launch its first electric scooter in 2022. The launch of Hero’s first electric scooter will be around March 2022. Hero MotoCorp revealed about this development through a press release on November 12

The company has earlier teased about its upcoming electric scooter on its 10th anniversary. Hero MotoCorp has clarified that the electric bike manufacturing project in underway and has reached advanced stages. The electric bike will be manufactured in a plant at Chitoor in Andhra Pradesh.

Hero MotoCorp CEO Pawan Munjal gave a quick look of the upcoming electric scooter during the online event (10th anniversary). He promised that the scooter will launch soon across 20 global markets. During the live stream, it appeared that the upcoming electric scooter will get 12 inch front wheel, while the rear will have 10 inch wheel. However, no major engine specification of the Hero Moto Corp electric scooter was revealed during the live stream.

Hero MotoCorp has tied up with Taiwanese company Gogoro to share battery swap technology that will be present in the upcoming electric bikes. The use of battery swap technology will add to the convenience of the buyers. We expect that the new electric scooter will have some essential features like fast charging, large luggage carrying space, a good range etc.

Upon its launch, the Hero Moto Corp electric scooter will rival the likes of Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube and the Ola electric S1 and S1 Pro. We expect that the Hero MotoCorp electric scooter price will be around Rs 1 lakh in India.

Keeping in mind about the rising fuel prices in India, many vehicle users have shifted to electric vehicles. Electric cars as well as two wheelers have made their presence in India.

The Electric vehicles (EV) and not only cost affective on a long run but also help in reducing carbon emission in the environment. The only downside of the electric vehicles in our country is the charging infrastructure.

However, with proper government support and due course of time the charging infrastructure for EVs are expected to improve drastically.
